AET, through third party verification, completed an energy audit of its present head office in Kitchener to identify opportunities to reduce the amount of energy input into the system without negatively affecting the output(s). Reducing energy consumption while maintaining and/or improving human comfort was of primary concern.
Based on the results of the energy audit, the following energy efficiencies were implemented:
Enhanced building envelope - Energy Star Rated (Low-E argon and gas filled) windows, continuous foam insulation (R-25), R-50 attic insulation, low-velocity air stream thermal barrier over windows
Heating/Cooling - zoned heating and cooling system, heat recovery ventilator, air to air heat exchanger, annualized solar-geo, ventilation chimney, low-emissivity roofing, on-demand hot water heating
Lighting - natural day lighting, motion sensors, LED lighting, photo sensors
