The founding principal of AET, Scott Freiburger, pioneered the development, implementation and monitoring of solid waste management programs for the construction industry. The programs were designed to reduce landfill and cleanup costs by minimizing waste generated on construction sites. In 2000, a local builder won an Environmentally Sustainable Business Award from the Recycling Council of Ontario for its environmentally sustainable approach on the Luther Village Project in Waterloo. This project implemented a construction solid waste management program developed by AET , which in turn awarded AET with an Outstanding Waste Diversion Program Operator Award.

AET Consultants provided expertise in all aspects of solid and hazardous waste management including auditing, planning, process optimization, analysis and program development.  The company later branched out to include consulting services in renewable energy audits and feasability studies. 

In 2008, AET Consultants forged a merger with three other environmental consulting companies, which included EcoServices, Integrated Green Building Conecpets (IGBC) and Eco2 Systems to form the AET Group.  EcoServices specialized in natural sciences and provided expertise in ecological monitoring, planning, research and assessment services.  IGBC provided facilitation, consultation and project mangement on LEED buildings, green building design and renewable energy building retrofits.  Eco2 Systems provided a full range of consulting services related to environmental mangement systems, regulatory compliance, government reporting, environmental health & safety and specialized remedial program management.

Since 1998, AET has grown from a solid waste management company to a sought after, multi-disciplinary environmental consulting firm. Today our clients benefit from our continued growth and expansion of services in a number of technical areas. AET's growth has been productive, driven by the firm's ability to identify and implement integrated solutions to complex environmental issues.
